Installation

  1. Download the game package from the official Planet Casio page
  2. Download the accompanying "pixelXD" texture pack (required for graphics)
  3. Extract both archives and place all files in the same folder on your calculator
The game will not function correctly if the texture pack is missing or in a different location
  4. Launch PythonExtra from the Hollyhock launcher
  5. Navigate to the game file and press EXE to start

Important: The game and the pixelXD texture pack must reside in the same directory. Verify both are present before launching.

Requirements

  • CASIO ClassPad II (fx-CP400 or compatible model)
  • Hollyhock-3 custom firmware
  • PythonExtra runtime version 0.4.0 or later (must be installed separately)
  • pixelXD texture pack (included with download or available separately)
  • Approximately 500 KB free storage space for game files and assets

Gameplay Tips

  • Move deliberately: the game rewards careful positioning over rushed actions
  • Time your jumps: platforming challenges require precise EXE button timing
  • Explore thoroughly: hidden plants may be tucked away in less obvious locations
  • Learn enemy patterns: toxic monsters follow predictable movement cycles
  • Save progress mentally: the game is short but does not include mid-session saves

Language Support

Slow but Steady includes full text localization for three languages:

  • English
  • Spanish (Español)
  • French (Français)

Language selection is typically automatic based on system settings or available via an in-game menu. Consult the game's start screen for options.

Technical Notes

  • Built with PythonExtra 0.4.0 for compatibility with ClassPad II hardware
  • Graphics rendered using the pixelXD texture pack for consistent visual style
  • Input handling optimized for calculator keypad and touch interface
  • Game state managed in memory; no save files written to storage

Troubleshooting

If the game fails to launch, verify that PythonExtra version 0.4.0 or later is installed. If graphics appear missing or corrupted, confirm that the pixelXD texture pack is present in the same folder as the game file. If controls feel unresponsive, ensure no background applications are interfering with input handling. For persistent issues, re-download both the game and texture pack from the official Planet Casio page and repeat the installation steps.
